SynbioTech Launches Biodiversity Initiative to Restore Endangered Taipei Frog Habitat in Southern Taiwan

Synbio Tech Inc. (TPEx: 1295), a global supplier of probiotic and postbiotic solutions, today announced the launch of its
Syn-Bio-Diversity Initiative (SBDI), marking a new step in the company’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability.

The initiative was inaugurated with a habitat groundbreaking ceremony at the Southern Taiwan Science Park (Kaohsiung Park), where SynbioTech has committed to stewarding nearly three hectares of green space to support the restoration of the endangered Taipei frog (Hylarana taipehensis), a native amphibian species that has experienced significant population decline due to habitat loss and environmental pressures.

A Cross-Sector Collaboration for Biodiversity Restoration

To ensure a scientifically grounded and sustainable approach, SynbioTech has partnered with stakeholders across government, academia, and civil society through a multi-party Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This collaborative effort brings together conservation authorities, research institutions, and environmental organizations to work toward a shared goal: restoring a stable Taipei frog population in southern Taiwan by 2030. The project also aims to establish a scalable model for corporate participation in biodiversity conservation.

Extending Microbiome Science Beyond Human Health

As a company rooted in microbiome science, SynbioTech is contributing its research expertise to the project by exploring how environmental changes influence the gut microbiota of amphibians.

By integrating ecological conservation with microbiome research, the initiative seeks to generate new scientific insights into ecosystem resilience—bridging the connection between microbial diversity and environmental sustainability.

Aligned with Global Biodiversity Frameworks

The Syn-Bio-Diversity Initiative aligns with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, particularly the“30x30” target, which calls for protecting 30% of the world’s land and marine areas by 2030.

“Biodiversity and microbiome diversity share a common principle—diversity underpins resilience,” said Chairman Lian-Chwan Yang of SynbioTech. “Through this initiative, we aim not only to support ecological restoration, but also to contribute scientific insights and build a collaborative model for long-term sustainability.”

From Habitat Restoration to Community Engagement

Beyond habitat construction, SynbioTech has established an internal stewardship program to support ongoing site management, including water quality monitoring, ecological maintenance, and invasive species control.

Looking ahead, the company plans to further expand its impact by developing a family-oriented environmental education park centered around the Taipei frog habitat, fostering greater awareness of biodiversity among local communities and future generations.

Toward a Recognized Conservation Model

The habitat will be developed under the OECM (Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures) framework, with the goal of achieving formal recognition as a conservation site. Through this effort, SynbioTech aims to contribute to Taiwan’s ecological network while demonstrating how corporate ESG initiatives can play a meaningful role in biodiversity preservation.
